Captain Frank/McHarry's Tomb - Elizabeth, IN

This isn't an investigation I did myself, just found the video while browsing YouTube. It actually looks more impressive then I had pictured, I'll put this on the list of locations I plan on visiting.

Dan's Run - 07/01/07 - 07/05/07 - 07/13/07

View from the top of the bridge, looking into the ditch.

Dan's Run - Henryville, IN
07/01/07 - 07/05/07 - 07/13/07

Legend:
Daniel Guthrie was murdered and placed in a shallow grave near the corner of Pixley Knob Road and Cemetery Hill (Mountain Grove). Guthrie's body remained undetected for one year before being found, unearthed and reburied in nearby Mt. Zion Cemetery . The hole he was buried in is still open (about 4-feet deep) near the edge of the woods. Homes in the nearby area have experienced sightings of a young man with a large, handlebar bushy mustache, doors open and close by themselves, footsteps walking up and down hallways at night, footprints found outside bedroom windows, objects moving by themselves, and ghostly whispers. Also, a tape recorder left on Guthrie's gravestone in Mt. Zion later revealed a faint, haunting man's voice crying, "Help me, God help me, please help me..."

Directions:
From I-65 take Exit 16, turn (left coming from South, right coming from North) onto Memphis-Blue Lick Rd. Follow this road, until you see Cemetery Hill/Moutain Grove Rd on the left. You will come to a small cement bridge with a creek underneath shortly after turning onto this road. The woods to the left of the creek is where we suspect his shallow grave lies.

More Information:
Before doing our investigation we visited with with one of our team member's relatives. The subject of Daniel Guthrie came up, since we told them why we were in the area. They told us that Dan Guthrie was just one victim in a string of murders in the Henryville area. They said he was not only buried once, but was also dug up again by his murderer and then burnt in a brush fire. They also confirmed that the creek bed beside the woods at the intersection is where they remembered him being buried the first time. This made us much more anxious to investigate, and we were not disappointed.

Investigation #1: 07/01/07
We made the trip up there and arrived at dusk, to make sure we could find both places, and it was no problem since it's pretty simple locate. I got out of the car to try and find the shallow grave along the creek bed, but it was partially on private property and I didn't want to risk being caught trespassing in broad daylight. We then went back to the fast food restaurants down Blue Lick Rd near the highway to grab a bite to eat and wait night out.

We drive down Cemetery/Moutain Grove Rd and hit the bridge near the intersection. I get out of the car, but the other person with me refused, still being a bit freaked out (see our investigation of Moutain Grove Cemetery.) I start taking pictures from the road of the creek below, and after taking a couple pictures as I look into the flash of the next photo, I see a transparent blue fog in the creek. I have never been more caught off guard in my life, I was frozen for a second and then just jumped back into the car and got out of there.

Investigation #2: 07/05/07 We decided to do a follow up investigation here after the strange occurrence with the fog. This time a friend and I were dropped off by someone in a car on the bridge, and told them not to come back for a little while.

As they pulled off and we looked for a good way to climb down from the bridge into the creek bed I hear a sound that catches my attention. As I listened more carefully it sounded like a very deep guttural growl coming from the woods. I turned to my friend and asked if he heard it as well, and he said he heard it too. The sound returned once again a few seconds later much louder than before, like whatever was in the woods was coming towards us. It was the lowest growl I have ever heard anywhere around here, this thing must've been big. So we back away to the other side of the road, but the growling didn't stop. We start walking back up Moutain Grove Rd, hoping to see our ride, but the sound still doesn't stop, in fact it actually followed us along the woods on the opposite side of the road. I'm guessing whatever this thing was really didn't want us to be near that bridge. I thought about taking a picture for a second, but came to the conclusion that whatever this thing was I didn't want to provoke it anymore then I already had. We make it past where there's a break in the wood line, it appears a road or trail used to be there, and the growling stops.

We stand there continuing to look at the opposite of the road for any sign of this thing, and as we're looking a flash of dim light partly illuminates the woods along the road we're standing on. I listened and looked around for cars or some other light source that could've created that flash, but didn't see anything. A few minutes later we see my friend pulling up with the van and got out of there. I will definitely plan a better follow up investigation next time. I'm even thinking about asking the owner of the property for permission to be out there at night so we wouldn't have to worry about anyone catching us.

Investigation #3: 07/13/07
I wouldn't really call this an investigation, we were just in the area at night once again, so we decided to stop by for a few minutes. This visit merely consisted of us sitting on the bridge in the car, but it yeilded results none the less. After a few minutes of sitting there, in the headlights of my car I saw a human shaped shadow walking in front of the car against the road. I looked over at my friend and asked "Did you see that?" and he responded "That shadow that looked like a person?"

After that I decided I needed to get out of the car, I figured if there's really anything here there's a good chance it's here right now. After standing on the bridge next to my car for a few moments, I hear a cough come from right in front of me on the edge of the bridge. As soon as I heard that I kinda laughed in disbelief and decided that was enough for that night. Once again, I'm planning a real follow up investigation in the near future, but still need to get the owner's permission to be out there.

Railroad Bridge - 8/20/07

Railroad Bridge - Columbus, IN
8/20/07

Legend:
Back in the 1920's a woman had a baby out of wedlock. She couldn't handle people and their objections. She took herself and the baby to the middle of the bridge and jumped. They found the woman's body, but not the body of the baby. People have said they have seen a creature on two legs with yellow eyes guarding the bridge around Midnight . If you are by the bridge at night you can sometimes hear the baby cry. On a full moon you can sometimes see and hear the ghost of the woman on the bridge looking and calling for her baby. More often than the other two you can see the creature with yellow eyes blocking the path to the old forgotten railroad bridge not wanting anyone disturbing the bridge or the area.

Directions:
From Interstate 65 North take Exit 68 for IN-46 toward Nashville/Bloomington/Columbus. Keep right at the fork follow signs for Columbus and merge into IN-46/W Johnathan Moore Pike. Take a slight left at Brown St/IN-11 N/IN-46 E, follow that until you see Jackson St. on your left and turn into it. Keep going down Jackson and be sure to stay on the right once the road starts to split. Jackson should turn into Lawton St, and then take a left onto 11th St which you follow into a park. Once you arrive in the park drive your vehicle to the section of the parking lot in the back right near the woods. From here you continue on foot, you should be able to find the concrete path that leads into the woods. You don't stay on the path too long, you should be able to see the rocky embankment that you climb to the tracks directly on the path. Once you climb the embankment and reach the tracks at the top proceed to the right and you should hit the bridge. WARNING: some parts of the bridge seem a bit unstable, PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

Investigation:
This sounded like just another one of those "Cry Baby Bridge" ghost stories that are plentiful in just about every state in the US, but it was pretty close and it looked pretty secluded so we decided to check it out. I believe we arrived around 10:30 PM, which is still early according to the legend, but I was a bit tired that night. It's actually very easy to find and I, even after looking at far off the trail it sat on Google Maps, was surprised how quickly we came to bridge walking on the tracks.

I didn't see any ghost woman with her baby, nor did I see the troll with yellow eyes that supposedly guards the path to the bridge. However after exploring the bridge itself we went to go check out the trails below it, and we heard a sound coming from the top of the bridge, heard it a few times actually. It sounded made the same sound that it did when we were walking on it, at first me and someone else were the only ones that heard it, but then several seconds later when we were all listening we heard it again. We went back up to the top, which took a couple minutes, and we saw nothing. I'm also not sure how safe the bridge is to walk on after the steel walkway on the left side ends and is replaced by wooden planks, they felt like they were getting worse as I walked on it further, so I turned back.

The one thing that kind of bothers me about the story is that the bridge isn't as high as I thought it would be. No doubt it would kill a baby, but I'm not sure about woman. Of course I'm not sure how this place would've looked back then, but I'm guessing unless she jumped into the rocks near the side it wouldn't have killed her. Next time we come back here we'll make sure to do it around midnight.

Also another thing about the park on 17th street, it seems kinda shady at night, lots of people just sitting around in there cars doing who knows what. I'm guessing that this place is probably frequented by the police pretty often, just to make sure nothing illegal is going down, so I'm not sure what they would do if they spotted your car just sitting there with no one in it while you're on the tracks.

Bridgewater Cemetery - 04/01/07

Bridgewater Cemetery - Scott County, IN
4/01/07
Legend:
Back in the 1800's there were a lot of civil war soldiers buried there, but no blacks. Some blacks were hung in the cemetery and buried on the outside of the cemetery. People say the cemetery is haunted by something called red eyes that you can see glowing in the back of the cemetery. People have seen hand prints, cars that wouldn't start, and black objects moving around the cars and by an arched shaped thing in the back of the woods, and cold chills. It is always colder in the cemetery than it should be, and some people have said that they got chased out of the cemetery by a white horse.

Directions:

From Interstate 65 take Henryville exit, and proceed east a few blocks to Highway 31 and turn north (left). Follow to junction Hwy 356 and turn right into Vienna. Follow 356 about eight miles until you come to Slate Ford Road on the right. Follow this road until you come to Bridgewater Road on the Left. Bridgewater Road dead ends into the cemetery.

Investigation:
We arrived at Bridgewater Cemetery at 11 PM on April 1st, 2007. From the moment you pull up the hill to the cemetery you see how incredibly eerie and isolate it is. The cemetery itself isn't too big, but the graves themselves are very old, hard to read, and could very well be the markers of Civil War veterans.

According to the legend "blacks" were buired outside of the cemetery after they were hung. If that's true, then it's very likely you might be parking right on top of them, or you're at least pretty close. There are some grave markers right in front of the gravel area where you park by the gate, so be careful not to hit them, and a small plot of grass with trees on the right side of the small parking area.

When in the cemetery I took a photo back towards the car, and it yielded a very interesting orb. Normally I would just dimiss the transparent orb as dust, but this one was different than any I had ever taken before. After I zoomed in on it, I found that you can almost see some sort of face in the blue glow of the orb.

Also I went through almost an entire pack of brand new batteries using my digital camera. As soon as I put some in, they'd show up registered on the camera as dead, and my camera would shut off. When I finally did get a pair that worked the camera just started flipping out, it uncontrollably zoomed in and out, turned off and on and a few of the pictures I took just showed up as an error later when I reviewed them.

Other than that, we really didn't find too much. No Red Eyes, arch in the woods, moving black objects or white horse. Perhaps we came on a bad night. The orb photo and the camera malfunction is enough to make me want to do a more thorough investigation in the future, so keep a look out for a follow up once we get around to a few more locations and have time to come back here.

Standing from the front gates of the cemetery.

Distinct orb near the front gates.

Close up of orb; notice what appears to be the face like features inside.

Nothing special here, just a few grave markers accompanied by the typical dust orbs.
